The 6th International Conference of the European Forum for Restorative Justice took place from 17 until 19 June in Bilbao (Spain). The event was attended by more than 300 participants. The report of the conference will appear online in due time. Pictures of the event can be found here. The next conference of the Forum will take place in 2012 in Helsinki (Finland). The dates will be announced as soon as possible. During the 6th International conference the Forum launched a "Restorative Justice Award". This year the award was handed out to Prof. Ivo Aertsen (Belgium) for his substantial contribution to the development of restorative justice in Europe. The award will be handed out every 2 years. More information on selection criteria and procedure will follow in due time. From 14 until 16 September 2010 an expert seminar on conferencing will be organised by the Forum in the framework of its conferencing project. More information can be found here. The next Summer School of the Forum will take place from 11 until 15 July 2011 in Kent (UK). More information can be found here. During the 2010 Annual General Meeting which took place in Bilbao (Spain) 3 new Board members have been elected: Annemieke Wolthuis (The Netherlands), Beata Czarnecka-Dzialuk (Poland) and Bruno Caldeira (Portugal). The creation of this web-site is a next step in the realisation of the Forum's objectives. On the one hand it seeks to provide information on the Forum and on the restorative justice movement in Europe - and in the rest of the world. On the other hand it is a mechanism to improve communication between all those interested in restorative justice. Read more
